It is to become the world’s first all-LED lit transport network, with the help of Philips and French lighting companies Step and Soitec.
An exhibition explaining the new lighting is on show at the Franklin d Roosevelt station (pictured) until 14 July.
All 250,000 lights in 302 Metro stations, as well as 66 suburban stations on the city’s RER network, are due to be updated to LED by December 2015. This is part of a four-year €11 million deal with RATP, the organisation that runs Paris’s public transport.
