Lighting professionals at the forum, organised in association with GE, said that while there is a demand for LEDs in retail stores, more information is needed about lamp specifications.
Mark Sutton Vane of Sutton Vane Associates said: ‘What I need is better information. I need information that I can compare properly, one manufacturer’s offer against another manufacturer’s offer.’
Meanwhile retailers revealed that while they are ready to use LED, it’s not for every application. Mark Fleming, engineering manager at Harrods said: ‘LED is there, as far as we’re concerned. I don’t think it’s necessarily the total answer, but there is a place for LED in our business. We’ve used it quite predominantly in some areas, but with a mix with metal halide and fluorescent.’
