It’s supposed to be flames below and heavens above, but for one group of parishioners it was momentarily the opposite when a blazing light bulb forced them to flee from their church one recent Sunday morning.
Two crews arrived to extinguish the incendiary lamp at All Saints Church in Weston Longville near Norwich, but had to call for back-up ‘in the form of aerial ladder platform and support appliance’, the Dereham Times reported.
‘Once they were at the height of the bulb, firefighters used hand appliances to put out the fire,’ the paper wrote.
The story does have a heavenly ending: No one was hurt, and the building wasn’t damaged.
