Jeddah Mall swops fluorescent for LED

60 per cent savings resulted from the upgrade at Jeddah Mall

The Jeddah Mall in Saudi Arabia has become the latest retail centre in the Middle East to go LED in a move that will cut energy consumption by 60 per cent.

The shopping mall, whose retailers span menswear, womenswear and home wares, takes lighting seriously as a sales tool that can draw attention to the products on display, reveal the colours accurately and highlights the quality of garments.

Therefore the facilities chiefs at the Jeddah Mall decided to replace nearly all of the fluorescent lights in the building with energy saving LED lighting to reduce energy consumption and maintenance costs. The supply contract was won by Opple, whose Downlight HM luminaires were installed. The fittings feature a  die-cast aluminum heat sink which ensures the maxiumum efficiency and reliability of the luminaires, and with a 30,000-hour life.
