Yas Marina, home of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, now boasts a new lighting installation designed to enhance the existing landscapes and facades to create a vibrant and welcoming experience for visitors. The scheme was carried out by Acoulite for the Marina owner Miral.
Miral identified that the Yas Marina area was extremely dark and underlit which gave the perception of the site being closed. Acoulite completed an assessment of the Marina to identify the opportunities to reinvigorate the area with light and ascertain where power was allocated around the site.
Acoulite presented a selection of lighting concepts to the Miral board, taking into consideration the entrance to the complex and all the public areas and facades. The agreed solution was to set the scene for a grander arrival experience by lighting the site’s palm trees with LED uplights and illuminating the entrance signage with ground wallwashers.
Colour-changing IP rated profiles have been used on the facades and the underside of the canopies, creating focal points throughout the area. The main tower is lit with LED projectors mounted on a customised bracket designed by Acoulite, which was fixed on the lower point of the facade.
Acoulite worked alongside Aecom and ISG to complete the scheme to time and budget.
