Client of the Year nominations unveiled as excitement builds for Lux Awards

The Client of the Year award celebrates the customer who has shown bravery when approaching a project and a willingness to adapt to new technology.

There is less than two months to go until this year’s Lux Awards takes place on the 24th of November. Today we can announce two crucially important missing pieces of the puzzle, the nominations for Client of the Year and Recycling Project of the Year.

The Client of the Year award celebrates the customer who has shown bravery when approaching a project and a willingness to adapt to new technology. The winning company will also have worked in partnership with manufacturers to create a lighting scheme that is aesthetically strong and energy efficient, as well as being easy to maintain and manage.

This year the nominees include Lush, for the forward thinking transformation of their flagship Manchester store by Michael Grubb Studio, Wilko for their nationwide LED roll-out spearheaded by Zumtobel and the University of East Anglia for their new Enterprise Centre, which is one of the greenest buildings in the UK.

TFL were also nominated for their proactive use of lighting to address challenges across their estate, including on their underground, overground and Docklands light railway services.

Manchester Airport was an early adopter of LED technology and is recognised by the Lux Awards for marrying state-of-the-art lighting control with flight management. D&D London have also been nominated in recognition of their long history of integrating cutting edge lighting design into their restaurants. D&D were nominated on this occasion for the German Gymnasium in London’s Kings Cross.

The nominees for Recycling Project of the Year, sponsored by Recolight and Lumicom, include Dexreco for their luminaire disposal project and Sainsbury’s – RLT Group, for their work on making the recycling of lamps as easy as possible at Sainsbury’s stores. Debenhams and Philips were also nominated for their environmental and recycling work.

After a few years of fun at the Troxy in London’s East End, this year the Lux Awards is moving to a glamorous new venue.

The festivities will take place at The Intercontinental London: The O2, which opened in January this year. Located on the Greenwich Peninsula, next door to the iconic O2 arena, the nautical themed hotel, which brings to mind the elegant ocean liners of the Twenties and the novels of F.Scott Fitzgerald, boasts five restaurants and bars. These include the Peninsula Restaurant, the stunning rooftop Eighteen Sky Bar, and the Clipper Bar that provides a 270-degree panorama across the Thames and towards the high-altitude Canary Wharf.
