Entries for the 2017 Lux Awards Middle East must be submitted by Thursday 26 January, allowing an extra week to take part

The deadline for entries to the Lux Awards Middle East 2017 has been extended due to popular demand. 

Entries now must be submitted by Thursday 26 January, allowing an extra week to take part.

‘The interest in the Lux Awards has been phenomenal,’ said Ray Molony, chairman of the judging panel. ‘However, many practices have asked for a little more time to put the finishing touches to their entries and we are happy to oblige. The standard this year looks really good, especially with outdoor, retail and office projects.’

The awards –  which celebrate excellence in lighting design –  take place onThursday 23 March 2017 as the climax to the LuxLive Middle East conference and exhibition. For the first time, both events will be taking place in Dubai this year.

The Lux Awards Middle East also recognises how smart, efficient and long-lasting lighting technology is helping to make new landmarks in the area, where lighting design is booming.

A full list of the categories for the 2017 awards can be viewed here and this year the list includes Retail Lighting Project of the Year, Hotel Lighting Project of the Year, Restaurant Lighting Project of the Year, as well as a whole range of highly competitive product categories.

The judging panel for the projects section includes Cameron McPherson, director of design, IHG; Florence Lam, global lighting leader, Arup; James Benya, principal, Benya Burnett Consultancy; Zeki Kadirbeyoglu, principal, ZKLD Light Design Studio; Martin Valentine, lighting expert, The Municipality of Abu Dhabi City; Nigel Eckersall, director of design and development, VE Experts; In the products section, the judges are: Faraz Izhar, Senior Lighting Designer, KEO International Consultants; Waleed Fakousa, senior associate, CD+M Lighting Design Group;  Lee Prince, principal, Light + Design Associates; Alan Tulla, technical dditor, Lux Review and Regina Santos, sssociate, head of lighting design, GAJ.
