A new suspension bridge over China’s famous Yellow River has been illuminated with dynamic colour-changing LED lighting from Philips.
The Binhe Yellow River Bridge in Yinchuan was opened in April 2016, and the lighting installation was completed in April 2017. The 6.6km bridge carries eight lanes of traffic between the centre of the northern city of Yinchuan and the Binhe New Area.
Working with Shanghai Bright Language Lighting Design Co, Philips Lighting provided RGB floodlights and linear fittings to light the bridge, with a water curtain under the structure illuminated in rainbow colours at night, to create a dramatic effect.
Philips says the LED system uses around a quarter of the energy that a conventional lighting system would have used.
