TOTTENHAM Hotspur football stars Harry Kane, Dele Alli and Keiran Trippier will be given a psychological boost before each home game – by special lighting whose subliminal design is intended to help them focus on getting goals.
The hexagon styling of the ceiling lighting in the players’ lounge – which mimics the structure of the goal net – is said to ‘stimulate the mind of the players into focusing on scoring’.
‘It was important that the lighting echoed this thought process’, said the supplier, JPR Lighting.
The hexagon light boxes comprise a track and sheet light box with LED sources. They are recessed into the existing ceiling structure with a Class 0 fire rated fabric diffuser for a flush fabric to edge diffusion. JPR Lighting – based in Farnborough, Hampshire – were commissioned to deliver a turnkey solution from design, manufacture and installation of signature lighting.
The players’ lounge is part of the English Premier League team’s new home in north London, which features some of the most integrated lighting seen in a sports ground.
In total, there are 77,000 luminaires in the 120,000 square metre, 62,062 seater stadium, the second largest in Premier League.
The areas of illumination include player facilities, seating bowl, circulation concourse and the extensive façade.
The design brief was based on a well-lit, comfortable and safe environment for players, employees and visitors, which also included the project management and execution.
The newly opened stadium is not just for football – it has been designed to host National Football League (NFL) games, concerts and other major events, which meant meeting the requirements of a multi-purpose venue.
