Seoul to showcase revolutionary Wicop at LuxLive

Wicop is the first LED to be developed that doesn't have a package around the emitting chip. That means no plastics and no ceramic and makes it one of the highest density LEDs in the world.

SHORTLISTED for one of this year’s Lux Awards in the Enabling Technology category, Wicop is the world’s first package-free LED, and it represents a real breakthrough technology in the LED industry.

It’s the first LED to be developed that doesn’t have a package around the emitting chip. That means no plastics and no ceramic and makes Wicop one of the highest density LEDs in the world.

This technology enables the lighting manufacturers to use the LEDs at higher power density and at higher temperatures than usual ones without risk of breaking it while keeping the efficiency at the highest for the high power LEDs.

The direct SMT chip-based platform also enables high packing density and a high lumen-per-dollar ratio.

No wires enable close-proximity optics and the phosphor film is directly attached to the chip surface for tight colour control. 

Its tiny form factor also provides best-in-class colour uniformity.

Additionally, Wicop doesn’t contain silver reflector and it’s very stable in corrosive environments.

As it doesn’t have plastic around the working temperature can be higher without degradation and it’s specially designed for small spots or high density spots and also for outdoor applications were reliability are the key to success.
