EXPERT SPEAKERS, top designers and lighting manufacturers from around the world have been gathering in London ahead of this week’s opening of LuxLive 2019 exhibition and conference.
The event comes at a pivotal time in the sector as LED adoption rolls out across commercial and public sectors and new technologies such as human centric lighting and IoT lighting edge closer to wider application.
The show, Europe’s largest annual lighting event, will feature an extensive speaking and educational programme, comprising eight conferences taking place in no fewer than six arenas and theatres.
The Smart Spaces + Smarter Lighting conference will cover the wireless and connected technologies that are revolutionising our world – and allowing unprecedented opportunities improve energy saving and deliver new and exciting services.
As a ubiquitous presence wherever people are, LED lighting provides an unparalleled digital backbone for these technologies and services.
Luminaires can monitor our world, delivering unprecedented quantities of data about how we use our spaces which can be turned into actionable insights to help us optimise our world. They can also engage with occupants and deliver location and other services.
Innovations such as the Internet of Things, Bluetooth mesh and new-generation Power Line Communication are creating new topologies and business models.
The event will explore these exciting technologies and look at real world examples from both indoor and outdoor projects and is backed by big names including Bluetooth, Signify, CU Phosco and the Digital Illumination Interface Alliance.
The event takes place on both days of the show – Wednesday 13 November and Thursday 14 November 2019 – at a specially-built arena at the heart of LuxLive and includes two days of free talks, masterclasses and debates from industry experts.
A separate one-day conference, Lighting for Workplace and Wellbeing, will focus on human centric lighting and dynamic lighting control.
Meanwhile, The Illuminated City track will explore the transformative power of lighting interventions in challenging urban areas and look at a range of successful projects both in the UK and overseas.
The Escape Zone is a dedicated emergency lighting conference, which brings together the top experts in the field to answer all the key questions. It’s backed by P4, Thorlux Lighting, Clevertronics, LuxBox and mymesh.
The Lighting Industry Association Lighting Academy is a free educational programme designed to demystify key aspects of lighting.
