THE LEADING street and outdoor lighting manufacturer CU Phosco has teamed up with the Australian company Green Frog Systems to supply solar-powered products across the globe.

Green Frog Systems, based in Adelaide, Southern Australia, is a pioneer in sustainable technologies and the full infrastructure needed for off-grid installations.

The collaboration will see development of a range of co-branded products featuring  solar harvesting, energy storage and power management technology and CU Phosco luminaires.

Founded in 2011 by David Wilson, Green Frog Systems started with the installation of rooftop solar systems for residential and commercial properties. South Australia is known as the driest state in the driest inhabited continent, making it the ideal location for solar lighting.

Wilson’s experience in solar led him to recognise that the market lacked any high-quality solar lighting for roads, pathways and other commercial and community applications.

Green Frog Systems was awarded a state Government tender to ‘illuminate the Flinders Ranges’ by deploying the first generation of the GFS-200 solar street light.

This initial recognition established the foundation for Green Frog Systems and the future of Solar Lighting across a range of applications.

Wilson commented: ‘Our partnership [with CU Phosco] will see a selection of our next generation LED road luminaires, featuring the latest in LED light sources and state-of-the-art design, combined with Green Frog’s off-grid connected solar solutions.

‘As both Green Frog Systems and CU Phosco have a global reach, it makes sense to partner in our respective market leadership areas of high reliability solar technology and world class lighting systems.”

Chris Marques, of CU Phosco Lighting, said: ‘It’s very exciting to partner with Green Frog Systems, who are world leaders in solar powered lighting. Allowing us to further expand our product offering to our global customer base.’

CU Phosco is the longest established and premier exterior lighting group in the UK. It designs and manufactures exterior lighting luminaires, floodlights, lighting columns and masts.

Its lighting columns and masts range from three metres to 60 metres in height and can be seen on roads, motorways, at airports and ports, in shopping centres, housing estates and sports stadiums throughout the world.

Charles Marques was originally from Adelaide, Australia. He enlisted in the Australian Expeditionary Force in 1914 to fight in the First World War and with his father he was sent to Gallipoli and France.

After the war both father and son decided to settle in England where they started Concrete Utilities, which became CU Phosco.
