WITH OVER 35 years’ experience in UV-C lighting, Signify is backing this month’s major conference on the technology.
The world’s biggest lighting company has become headline sponsor of the LuxLive UV-C Kicker Conference on Tuesday 22 September and will provide some of its industry-leading experts as speakers.
The company says it is committed to delivering UV-C lighting solutions to building owners and managers for the disinfection of air, surfaces and objects, to add an additional layer of safety to people’s lives in a world adjusting to a new normal.
Registration is now opened for the digital conference which is organised by the team behind the annual LuxLive exhibition.
The event will focus on the role of UV-C lighting in the workplace. UV-C lighting is well-proven and trusted as an effective disinfectant, but its deployment in workplaces, education, healthcare and hospitality buildings has challenges.
In this special event, experts will explore both traditional mercury and LED technology, the standards and regulatory framework around ultraviolet lighting and current best practice in surface and upper room disinfection.
The latter can be used when people are in the room thanks to their design, whereby the UV-C irradiance is directed towards the ceiling and upper areas of the room and not downwards where people are present.
Shielding and optics prevent exposure to the UV-C light source, as well as their installation at height which is not normally accessible to people.
Other topics include the use of UV-C chambers and tunnels in retail, commercial and hospitality to disinfect objects such as shopping trolleys.
Starting with the basics, lead speaker Ray Molony will be joined by highly knowledgeable industry personnel and key players in the sector for a day of presentations, seminars and panel discussions.
‘With stricter hygiene and cleaning regulations now in place for businesses, UV-C lighting technology offers a great option to help keep offices clean and free of viruses and other pathogens,’ said James Bennett Commercial Director, Systems and Services for Signify UKI.
‘UV-C lighting has been used as a disinfection tool for decades and is a proven technology in the fight against viruses and bacteria.
‘In offices, this means canteens, kitchens, toilets, printer areas or other places that multiple people will need to use, can be disinfected – all through UV-C lighting.
‘We’re delighted to be supporting this event and helping to deploy this technology with appropriate safeguards being put in place as part of the fight against Covid-19’.
The UV-C conference is suitable for employers, facility managers, building owners, building services engineers, lighting designers and professionals and manufacturers.
Registration and attendance are free of charge.
It’s a ‘kicker’ event in advance of the LuxLive 2020 Digital Festival, which takes place on Wednesday 11 November and Thursday 12 November 2020.
