UV-C experts share insights with luminaire makers

Speakers from the world- renowned Fraunhofer Institute, Nichia, Ledil, Lumitronix and Efsen looked at the science behind UV-C LED technologies and how they work in disinfection applications such as water purification and making our workplaces Covid-secure.

A PANEL of top UV-C experts have shared their insights and experience with a global audience in a special Lux Review webinar in association with LED innovator Nichia. 

Speakers from the world- renowned Fraunhofer Institute, Nichia, Ledil, Lumitronix and Efsen looked at the science behind UV-C LED technologies and how they work in disinfection applications such as water purification and making our workplaces Covid-secure. 

They also explored how optics and module manufacturers are successfully integrating UV-C LEDs into products and how specific real-world projects are implementing solutions. 

Thomas Westerhoff, deputy group manager, embedded systems at the Fraunhofer Institute delivered the keynote address. 

He compared the dosages of LED UV-C and how they can kill pathogens, including the coronavirus.

Jonatan Klee, UV LED account manager at Nichia, looked at the UV-C LED technology at the heart of the discussion.

Tero Mäkinen, business development manager at the leading optics specialist LEDiL, unveiled a special silicone optic which was developed for UV-C applications. 

Peter Sonnenschein, head of sales at LED module manufacturer Lumitronix and colleague, application engineer Mario Rose, revealed the results of irradiation simulations on the disinfection of surfaces. 

Thomas Efsen, managing director at UV solution provider Efsen, shared key disinfection data.
